The Jesuit basketball team was too fast and too strong for Pleasant Grove of Elk Grove on Wednesday in Carmichael.
The Eagles, ranked No. 3 in the region by The Sacramento Bee, played a great first quarter but let the rest of the game go to the No. 2 Marauders. With a final score of 75-57, Jesuit was too much for Pleasant Grove.
Senior Parker Uu led the Marauders with 18 points and fellow seniors Akachi Okugo and Kurt Parker added 14 each. The Eagles, having lost star basketball and football recruit Arik Armstead to early graduation, were led by junior guards Malik Thames with 16 points and Colfax Nordquist with 15.
Fellow Delta River League foe Sheldon is ranked No. 1, but lost Wednesday to No. 12 Oak Ridge.
