Marauders earn Carmichael school's 102nd section title.
The Jesuit track and field team captured the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section championship on Friday, school officials announced. The victory is the Carmichael high school's 102nd section title in school history, including water polo earlier this school year. Check back later for team and individual results.
Girls move on in playoffs, boys eliminated.
The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs brought mixed results for Del Campo's softball and baseball teams on Friday. The Cougars girls advanced with a 15-10 win over Rosemont while the boys were knocked out 11-3 by Granite Bay. The softball team was led by senior Makayla Props, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles, The Sacramento Bee reported. The Cougars next face Christian Brothers today at 3 p.m. at the Sacramento Softball Complex. In baseball, four Del Campo pitchers walked 13 Granite Bay batters in the loss at American River College.

Raiders play Saturday to defend title against Antelope.
The Rio Americano girls soccer team will defend its section title on Saturday after they defeated Rodriguez of Fairfield 3-0 on Thursday. The Raiders' goals were scored by Alexa Heinzer, Mel Hoskins and Paige Borgogno. Rio faces Antelope at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Cosumnes Oaks High School for the championship.
Playhouse beats out Mission Oaks Recreation and Parks District.
Carmichael Patch readers have spoken and said the Chautauqua Playhouse offers the best entertainment in Carmichael in our latest Readers Choice poll. Defensive fielding and key hits helped El Camino’s varsity baseball team advance to the second round of the Division III Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs as the Eagles knocked off the Benicia Panthers 9-2 Thursday at Dan McAuliffe Memorial Ballpark in Sacramento. Benicia scored first by recording two runs in the top of the first inning, but El Camino would answer back by scoring three more runs in the bottom of the first. The Eagles led for the rest of the game after the first inning. Despite giving up two runs in the first inning and not recording a single strikeout for the entire game, senior starting pitcher Mike Franz completed the game for El Camino. Marauders fall to Vacaville.
The Jesuit baseball team was upset in the quarterfinals of the high school baseball playoffs on Wednesday, falling 3-2 to Vacaville. The Marauders, who entered the game as the two-time defending Sac-Joaquin Section Division I North champions, were held to six hits and four errors, The Sacramento Bee reported. Julian Barron and Andre Gregory had two hits each for Jesuit and Logan James struck out eight in his final Marauders appearance before heading to Stanford, The Bee reported. "Best experience of my life: 4 years of Jesuit Baseball with the best group of guys ever #grateful #blessed," Jesuit's Gabe Araj wrote on Twitter.
